A peaceful resting spot in an area of outstanding natural beauty situated on the edge of the famous ancient Roman city of Bath.

Applegates Glamping offers lovely accommodation in a comfortably furnished Shepherd's Hut and Yurt. Applegates is a truly relaxing experience, overlooking the beautiful views across the Bybrook River valley.

If you are looking for a countryside break, a city break or a mixture of the two then Applegates is the perfect rest point for you.

Applegates is all about a happy and relaxed atmosphere to keep the animals as calm and comfortable as our guests! We keep chickens and horses, a big black and white cat who loves the guests and a Spanish rescue dog.

Horses and ponies are also welcome to come and stay. So if you wish, please do bring your horses or ponies along for a break as well.

THE LOCATION

There are footpaths all around offering the chance to explore the beautiful country surroundings by foot. From Applegates it's only a mile walk to a very good local pub called the Crown at Bathford for food and drinks. Locally, a short drive or a couple of miles walk is the Famous George Inn on the Canal path at Bathampton which is a very pretty spot.

Why not grab yourself a takeaway from Batheaston village where you will find a very good Indian restaurant that offers takeaways or visit The White Lion pub.

SHEPHERD'S HUT

The Shepherd's Hut offers peace and comfort. With the log burner going you can sit and take in the views across the valley whilst the sheep and horses graze in the fields around you. Inside the hut is a table, a large Kingsize bed, a sofa (which will convert into bunk beds if you need them), a simple gas burner to brew up tea or cook up some porridge for breakfast.

Parked up next to the hut is your shower room which is inside a converted horse trailer. The shower is nice and hot, clean and works really well and the shower room includes a flushing loo and electric lighting.

Fairy lights light up the hut in the evening complemented with the sweet smell of honeysuckle growing over the bathroom trailer. You can cook outside the hut on a small potbelly barbeque. Food and supplies are available at the Budgens shop in the nearby village of Box.

THE YURT

The Yurt is situated 60 metres across a field nestled in amongst the Poplar trees next to a natural, spring-fed lily pad pond. The Yurt is very cosy and fully insulated for all year round living. It has a log burner to keep you super warm and feels very spacious as you look up through the skylight to the beautiful trees above.

The Yurt is located in a secluded and private area. You can enjoy a hot shower, or even a hot outdoor bath, a log fire will heat up your bath so you can soak up the stars in the night sky. Enjoy a campfire in the evenings and then retire inside for hot drinks on the gas stove. Electric lights powered by the solar panel will light up the Yurt at night and the fairy lights mark the edge of the decking all around. The Yurt is a perfect getaway, where no one can find you and yet is still only 10 minutes away from the city of Bath.
